Scout Leadership


Troop 52 has elections every six months to decide positions in the troop. Some of the main positions include Senior Patrol Leader, who leads the troop, and each patrol leader who leads the boys in his patrol.

Senior Patrol Leader: This position is the top leading position in the troop that boys can attain. He has responsibilities of organizing many of the troop events, and over seeing everything to make sure it all goes smoothly. He also must delegate many things to patrol leaders and other scouts.

Assistant Senior Patrol Leader: Both of the assistants are available to help the Senior Patrol Leader by accepting tasks that he may delegate upon them, and to assume his position should he not be present at any given activity.

Patrol Leader: Each patrol, the Fighting Squirrels, Wolves, and Canyon Badgers, have one patrol leader. He is responsible for making sure that each boy in his patrol gets food on camp outs, and that during activities that things go smoothly.

Assistant Patrol Leader: Each assistant is to assist the patrol leader in fulfilling his duties, and will assume the patrol leader's duties in the event that the patrol leader is not present at any given activity.

Chaplain's Aide: The chaplain's aide's duties consist of preparing a short devotion for camp outs, and praying at troop events.

Historian: The historian is to document events that occur in the troop. He is to take pictures of each troop event, and to work on a troop scrap book.

Quartermaster: The quartermaster's responsibility is to make sure that all troop equipment is taken care of, stored properly, and documented in the event that any of it should be broken or lost.

Scribe: The scribe is an important position. His duty is to document who is at each troop event for attendance records that are used at each election, and to write a short summary of each campout and large event that takes place in the troop. He is also to take notes on each patrol leader council meeting and troop meeting.

Instructor: The instructor's main duty is to teach younger scouts the various skills needed to move up in rank in the troop. He mainly concentrates on new and younger scouts to try and help them move to first class. He also, in the course of his term, is to plan and carry out a scout training day which generally consists of orienteering and knot tying.

Bugler: The bugler is to wake boys up at the proper time during camp outs.
