May 2010 Camp-out.
We arrived at the Church
at 4:30 and left for Smith Loop at 4:50. When we arrived at the
campsite we got our packs ready and began the long, treacherous hike to
the campsite. Some of the hike was steep uphill and some of the hike
was downhill, we had to backtrack a few times but it that wasn't bad at
all. We stopped at a small creek and skipped rocks while the adults
looked at the map, Mr.Temple then hiked back to take a look at our new
campsite. It was great, as soon as we got there Ben Temple had a great
fire going and only after a short period of time we all had our tents
up and were ready to eat. After supper we sat around the fire and
chatted and then retired to our tents to play cards.
In the morning we all stowed our gear and put our tents up,
we then ate breakfast. Some of us had eggs and sausage, and some of us
had oatmeal(raw). After breakfast some of us went down to the
creek and got water to put the fires out with. Once the fires were out
we packed up and started our 3(seemed more like five) mile hike home.
When we got to the creek we were supposed to find a bridge but there
wasn't any so we had to cross barefooted with our packs on our back and
our shoes in our hands. The hike home was fun but in some pliaces it got
really steep, like a hill that we hiked 1/2 mile up it and then took a
break.
When we got to the cars some of us went to Ben Temples Eagle Scout project and some of us went home.
